Trust Is A Foundation To Success can be hard to earn, is lost easily and on occasions can never be regained.

Trust is the foundation of any successful relationship, without it creativity is stifled and innovation grinds to a halt.

Evidence shows us that people who live or work in high-trust environments thrive.

They are more productive, more engaged and more open to explore new ideas and approaches. This is for good reason, latest neuroscience research on 'Trust' helps us to understand why, when we feel trust we are operating from a higher brain state - pre-frontal cortex, which helps us to be the best version of ourselves.

If we accept this, how come trust seems to be on the decline?

I see this and hear from people regularly who have lost trust in their leaders.

They state that they have no confidence and have lost faith in their ability.

This troubles me, even though I understand and have some sympathy for this viewpoint, especially given the behaviour and conduct of many of our leaders and institutions in recent years.

For me integrity, competence and conduct are key factors in building and establishing trust in any role or situation.

Questions worth reflecting on are:-

• Can people count on you, will you do what you say and will your actions mirror your statements.

• Do you have the necessary skills and experience to complete the job being asked of you and,

• Does your conduct in the role and with others reflect positively on you as this is a clear indication of your character and fortitude. Is trust on the decline?
